It is offered as an 8/16-way, 16/32-way and 32/64-way server.
The model 595 comes with either a Standard or Enterprise Edition with four i5/OS processor licenses.
Extensive on demand capabilities and dynamic partitioning for up to 254 partitions of i5/OS, Linux and AIX 5L are supported.
The model 595 CEC is built using a processor book structure. Each 16-way processor book has two 8-way multichip modules (MCM) with state-of-the-art, 64-bit, POWER5 processors.
- The 8/16-way consists of one processor book with eight processors activations.
- The 16/32-way consists of two books with 16 processors activations.
- The 32/64-way consists of four books with 32 processors activations.
- You can request IBM to ship these servers with fewer no-charge processor activations or with additional chargeable processor activations depending on your needs.
Each processor book has sixteen memory slots, of which four slots at a minimum must be filled. The memory features employ sophisticated ECC technology and redundant bit steering for higher reliability. Each book also provides attachment capability for up to six HSL/RIO loops on which HSL/RIO-attached I/O drawers and towers can be attached.
